Stevenson is a small river town in the middle of the Columbia River Gorge, east of Portland, and the house sits on the hill just above it. Downtown is a few minutes down the road: Walking Man Brewery is the local gathering place; Clark and Lewie's and Big River Grill are the reliable dinners, Isadore's Kitchen in Carson is an option for breakfast. A&J Market on SW 2nd is genuinely well stocked if you'd rather cook. Bob's Beach is down the hill for river access. Skamania Lodge has ziplines, a challenge course, axe throwing, putting and disc golf. The Bridge of the Gods is nearby, where the Pacific Crest Trail crosses between Washington and Oregon, and Bonneville Dam and its fish hatchery are close enough for an easy morning. Waterfalls, hikes and scenic drives are in every direction.

Alice’s place worked awesome for what we needed. We were in town for my daughter‘s wedding at the Cape Horn estate. Three of us had our hair done at the house while a few of the bridesmaids did their makeup. It was a great open concept living area that accommodated all of us for the tasks at hand, and then slept six of us family members after the event. It really worked well for our needs!

It was such a beautiful place . Lots of space and comfortable beds ! We especially enjoyed the view from the deck and the wonderful kitchen. I loved the kurig and coffee stuff available. The art looked like from local artists and we really couldn’t tell if they were photographs or paintings. Nice touches everywhere. The town closes up early so plan accordingly.

Unfortunately, the homeowner booked a landscaper with a leaf blower and Weedwhacker bright and early on Saturday morning at 8 am that woke my whole family up so we ended up not being able to sleep in and had to pack up early and leave. If I knew this was going to happen I for sure would have chosen a different spot. It ruined our stay for sure considering how much we paid for one night :(

Alice was a great host, and the house was amazing. Alice provided us with a guide to make everything much easier to be prepared prior to our stay. We are definitely staying here again!

The place was beautiful but not up to standard when it comes to the most basic amenities (aka toilet paper). I had to take my own personal time to go to the grocery store to purchase some because it wasn’t going to be restocked in 24 hours. And we had no hair dryer even though this was in the listing. They did provide a partial refund due to these issues. The space was extremely clean and neat but there is not an A/C in all the rooms as expected. Only 2/3 rooms had this amenity and that was uncomfortable for some of us since we stayed in the summer. Also too many check out expectations. Might as well stay in a hotel and pay an extra fee.
