Stevenson is a small river town in the middle of the Columbia River Gorge, about 45 minutes east of Portland, and the house sits on the hill just above it. Downtown is a few minutes down the road: Walking Man Brewery is the local gathering place with live music on Thursdays, Clark and Lewie's and Big River Grill are the reliable dinners, Isadore's Kitchen is the breakfast, and Beacon Rock Cafe is closer to town. A&J Market on SW 2nd is genuinely well stocked if you'd rather cook. Bob's Landing is down the hill for river access and fishing. Skamania Lodge has ziplines, a challenge course, axe throwing and golf. The Bridge of the Gods is three miles away, where the Pacific Crest Trail crosses between Washington and Oregon, and Bonneville Dam and its fish hatchery are close enough for an easy morning. Waterfalls, hikes and scenic drives are in every direction.

Alice was a great host, and the house was amazing. Alice provided us with a guide to make everything much easier to be prepared prior to our stay. We are definitely staying here again!

The place was beautiful but not up to standard when it comes to the most basic amenities (aka toilet paper). I had to take my own personal time to go to the grocery store to purchase some because it wasn’t going to be restocked in 24 hours. And we had no hair dryer even though this was in the listing. They did provide a partial refund due to these issues. The space was extremely clean and neat but there is not an A/C in all the rooms as expected. Only 2/3 rooms had this amenity and that was uncomfortable for some of us since we stayed in the summer. Also too many check out expectations. Might as well stay in a hotel and pay an extra fee.

Great time exploring a new place. This home was great. Stevenson is a cool town with some character. Everything is walkable from the Airbnb.

After driving 10+ hours, we arrived at the river finally able to watch my son in law wind surf! Traffic was light and the views were stunning! When we arrived at Alice’s house we were tired. The house is beautiful, the inside is stunning! So relaxing and beautifully styled. We had an unexpected surprise! Being the 4th of July, we had a front row seat to a wonderful display of fireworks over the river! We sat on the front deck and watched the display, no worries with parking or traffic! Our showers were hot and our sleep was amazing! This is definitely on my list for a repeat visit!

Perfect central location to explore all sides of the CRG, great local spots in Stevenson, nice quiet neighborhood, and you can walk to great food and coffee. Loved the layout for our family of 5. Morning coffee on the front deck looking at the mountains and listening to the birds as a herd of 10 deer crossed below. Wineries are nearby as well but the hikes were legendary all around and the host was always responsive and helpful with great local suggestions. If you want an unforgettable experience in the Columbia River Gorge then this place in Stevenson is amazing. Plus when you need a rest day, it’s a short drive over to Hood River and it’s not far to Portland either. We even took a day trip to the coast and saw all the awesome beaches. Felt like home, hope to stay again as our son has moved nearby and showed us the sites as well. 10 out of 10
